Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American singer and musician, is most well-known for her musical talents. She was the youngest and first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her beginning of her career bouncing between London and New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. Then she moved into Encinitas CA, where she earned her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is still a young woman, but she has a very impressive career in recording and performing. She has performed with her father on stage for many years. She released her debut album in 1998. debuted Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy Nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very broad as she's been in every one of the world's major venues. Anoushka Shakar's work is not just limited to music. Bapi The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 novel, and is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was the role of a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to grow and we are likely to see a lot from her in the years to come. Anoushka is a native of England, but spent most of her childhood split between London in the UK and Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to the high school there. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at the age of nine. A few years later, she made her music debut with the sitar Delhi at her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka's father toured around across the world with her and she also gained a variety of experience. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. She was the first woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and artistry within the Asian Arts.
